The Background
Costa Rican coffee is highly regarded, and considered to be some of the best to come out of Central America. Fresh Roasted Coffee sources these beans from a small family owned farm located in the Central Valley region of Costa Rica. Third generation coffee producers Dona Francisca and her husband Oscar Chacon run the mill seamlessly with many years of experience under their belts. Water conservation and organic practices are put at the forefront of this operation, as sustainability is taken very seriously. These beans benefit from nutrient rich soils and growth at a high altitude.
What makes Cumbres del Poas Coffee special?
When you hear about Costa Rican coffee, it's typically a coffee sourced from Tarrazu. Don't get me wrong, Tarrazu coffee is great, but Costa Rica has plenty more to offer! For example, this micro-lot coffee from Sanbanilla de Alajuela is fantastic! You'll find a variety of fruity notes including peach, cherry and orange. While the overall profile tastes mild and clean, a citrus-toned acidity is apparent. Hints of citrus remain in a nice, smooth finish. If you're a fan of fruity flavor profiles, you should definitely check this one out.
