The Background

In the past, Yemen produced a much larger amount of coffee than it does today. Recent civil war has significantly limited the production and exportation of coffee. Coffee from Yemen has an important historical significance; the term Coffea Arabica actually comes from Yemen. These beans are grown high in the Haraz mountains (also spelled Haraaz) at 8000ft altitudes. Hundreds of family run farms take advantage of the ideal altitude and rich volcanic soils of Northwest Yemen. Sea Island Coffee prides themselves on providing rare and exotic coffees. Yemen Haraz coffee fits the bill perfectly!

What makes Yemen Haraz Coffee special?

This coffee is expensive, there's no two ways about it. This is a reflection of the limited availability of coffee from Yemen, as well as the high quality of these beans. Yemen Haraz coffee makes a great treat for a special occasion. This coffee is full-bodied and rich with a strong, exotic fragrance. The flavor profile includes notes of fruit and chocolate, as well as a distinct raisin taste. A bright acidity adds some fruity bite to the cup. Again, this is more a luxury coffee than an every day bean. That being said, if you get a chance to try Yemen Haraz coffee, we highly recommend that you do so!
