The Background
Yemen used to produce a significantly larger amount of coffee than it does now. Coffee production has been drastically diminished due the recent civil war. Though the availability is limited, purchasing the small amount of coffee that is still produced serves to help the fragile economic state of Yemen. The Mocha brand name comes from the port of Mocha in the South-West of Yemen, where beans were shipped from in the past. These beans are grown at high elevations in the Burra mountain region. Coffee from Yemen is very highly regarded and often compared to Ethiopian coffee (that's a huge compliment).
What makes Yemen Mocha Coffee special?
If you get the chance to try some coffee from Yemen, we strongly advise that you do so! Coffee from Yemen is often a little bit pricey due to the limited supply. Most coffee enthusiasts agree that Yemen Mocha coffee beans are well worth the price. This coffee is heavy-bodied with some earthy character and notes of cocoa. A bright wine-toned acidity adds to the cup without overwhelming. This coffee finishes smooth with a hint of chocolate, making it a great option for black coffee drinkers! Many people are familiar with the famous Mocha Java blend, but every coffee drinker should try single origin Mocha beans too!
